If you’re thinking about learning Reiki, but part of you is worried because school didn’t go well – or learning never felt easy – I want you to hear this clearly: You do not need to be “academic” to learn Reiki. You definitely don’t need to have been good at exams, classroom learning, or qualifications.
Reiki is practical. It’s hands-on. It’s learned by being shown, practising, and building confidence step-by-step.
When School Didn’t Work for You, it Doesn’t Mean You Can’t Learn Reiki
For some people, school was brilliant. For others, it was confusing, stressful, or knocked their confidence – and that feeling can follow you into adulthood. So when you look at a Reiki course you might think:
- “What if I don’t understand it?”
- “What if everyone else gets it and I don’t?”
- “What if I leave with a certificate but still don’t know what I’m doing?”
These are real concerns – and they’re also the reason how you’re taught matters just as much as what you’re taught.
A Reiki Certificate That Sits in a Drawer Isn’t the Goal.
Here’s my honest view. If you’re given lots of theory and then handed a certificate, it can feel like you’ve “done the course”, but you don’t feel confident enough to use Reiki. That’s exactly what I don’t want for my students. I believe you’re paying me to teach you. Not just to talk at you. To show you. Guide you. Help you practise. Answer questions. Build your confidence.
So you leave with a Reiki qualification and you actually feel:
- “I know how to do this.”
- “I want to practise.”
- “I’m excited to use Reiki.”
One of My Favourite Moments as a Reiki Teacher
I once had a student where this was the first qualification they’d ever achieved in their life. Not because they weren’t capable – but because they needed the right style of teaching. Someone to explain clearly, demonstrate, and gently support them while they learned. That’s the kind of teaching I’m proud to offer. Because Reiki should feel empowering – not like being back at school.
How I Teach Reiki (So You Can Relax)
A lot of anxiety disappears when the learning feels safe. My approach is simple:
- The pressure is on me to teach well so you don’t feel you have to struggle
- I break things down into clear steps
- We practise, not just listen
- Questions are welcome
- I teach in a grounded, supportive way
- The aim is confidence – not perfection
I want you to be able to go home, put your hands on yourself, and think: Yes, I can do this.
Reiki Level 1: the Beginner Starting Point
Reiki Level 1 is where you learn the foundations and how to practise Reiki in a safe, practical way. It is ideal if you want Reiki to:
- soothe stress and overwhelm
- help you feel calmer and more balanced
- support your wellbeing
- give you a tool you can use in everyday life
Reiki Level 2: the Next step (After You’ve Practised Level 1)
Reiki Level 1 comes first. Then most people move on to Reiki Level 2 around 1 to 3 months after Level 1, once they’ve had time to practise and feel ready. Reiki Level 2 is for people who want to deepen their practice further – and for some, it’s also the level that supports them to work professionally.

If you’re searching for Reiki training in Warrington, Cheshire, or the wider North West, it’s worth choosing a teacher who is experienced, established, and genuinely invested in your learning – not just the certificate.
I’m proud to be one of Warrington and Cheshire’s leading providers of Reiki training, highly recommended by students over the last decade. I’ve helped many beginners go from nervous to Reiki confident. Some now are Reiki therapists across the North West, with a few teaching Reiki.
Want to See if I’m the Right Teacher for You?
That’s a smart question – and it matters. A quick chat with me can help you feel clearer about the Reiki 1 training day:
- what you will learn and what the day looks like
- whether my teaching style feel right for you
- and lets be truthful – whether you like my “vibe”.
The chances are you may learning Reiki on your day off and using your own money. So, apart from learning Reiki Level 1 and getting your Reiki 1 qualification, you need to check out the Reiki training day and get a feeling whether you are going to enjoy the day.
If you feel nervous about learning Reiki, get anxiety or suffer with panic attacks then have a chat with me on 07931 338 941. I have helped other students enjoy their day. Also, there are reviews from past Reiki 1 students I have taught, including those who were very nervous about attending.
If learning Reiki is something you keep coming back to, but you’re worried you “won’t get it”, you don’t have to figure it out alone, I am here to answer your questions and support you in your Reiki healing gift.
Please check out my training and events page where I go into more detail about the Reiki Level 1 day. Currently I run Reiki Level 1 one day every month excluding around the festive period.
Together you can achieve your Reiki Level 1 qualification
